If not, here is something you should read. . .
If people think that 'rocket science' is something which cannot be explained to kids, read this report on how patiently Annadurai explained about the mission to school kids.
For kids here's a tip from him on how to proceed with your dreams and mission -
He told the students to take the advice from their parents and teachers seriously. He talked about how his father wanted him to study literature and named him Annadurai too, but he had stood by his choice and proved that he was successful. So, be clear in communicating your choice to your parents. If you are determined to achieve something big in the field of your choice, nobody can stop you. Your parents will help you in realising your dreams.
It is YOU who has to be determined and be clear about it.

The problem is kids don't know what they want...its these very few kids like Annadurai who know what they want. Majority of them only know what they don't want and not what they want. And what they don't want is so minimal to what they want and because of this they cannot express as in Annadurais' case to their parents.
My kid is so fascinated about being a scientist. And damn well, he wants to be a rocket scientist itself. But he is not sure. One thing he is sure of is that he does not want to learn mathematics or physics. He knows he does not have the head for it. Well, is my kid spastic?? Not sure but I know one thing…what he is today is what I was some years back.
Now well, I know for sure this is a fake dream. He simply does not have this in his gene pool. His genes are from a very intellectually average mathematically challenged set. Unless mutation happens, this is just going to be his dream. And mutation has not happened so far, all I can pray is for something to happen down the line……
